The power has gone out twice in the last two nights, blackening the camp and slowing down activity. Last night I was on my computer, watching tv and chatting with a couple who live in South Africa when the lights suddenly shut off. For the next two hours, we sat in the darkness and chatted, Ziad came up to join us. The conversation shifted back and forth from the situation in South Africa to Palestine interspersed with looking out the windows as the cars with their lights on drove by and waiting for the power to come back on.

Ramadan is coming to a close, I know that I will have some thinking, processing and reflecting to do when it is over. This week, it has taken a toll on me. I am not used to being so sluggish all day and having energy infused into me from 6pm till about 4am when I usually go to sleep. Its hard to have my most productive hours when the sun has gone down. It's a different and enlightening experience but I still don't quite know what to make of it.
