11 December 2007

The sun is setting on my last view of the camp. The soft glow of the disappearing light cradles the sights that I have been accustomed to in the last 5 months.

It's funny that now as I finally feel comfortable traveling about, I am leaving. Today I hopped in a taxi to the DHL office in order to mail a package to the United States, walked out of the office and stepped into a yellow six door service taxi into the heart of Bethlehem and sat in Manager Square with the church of the Nativity behind me writing postcards as the workers in front of me used a crane to lift themselves high into the air in order to string lights and ornaments. I meandered down into the post office, chatted with the clerk in Arabic while I mailed post cards that might or not make it to the states.

Tomorrow I will get a taxi at 2am to the airport and begin the process of leaving this adventure that has been so important in my life. I don't really know what to say at this point, I have all these ideas floating around in my head.

I have learned so much yet know that I still have so much I don't know. My next writing will be from the states. I may or may not post on the website. Thanks to all who have followed my journey.
